Why Webb sees Burnes as a ‘perfect partner’ at the top of the Giants rotation originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area
Logan Webb made it clear what he thinks about the possibility of Corbin Burnes being added to the Giants’ rotation.
Webb joined Jomboy Media’s Chris Rose on the latest episode of “The Chris Rose Rotation” where he was asked about San Francisco’s reported pursuit of the top free agent pitcher and whether he’s considering the possibility of playing alongside the to pitch the former Cy Young Award winner.
“Of course I do,” Webb told Rose. “It’s crazy when he comes, so many stud pitchers that I’ve gotten to play with so far in my career are so many Cy Youngs. It’s actually pretty cool… when Corbin goes out there and throws, and “I throw right after him, it’s literally perfect, and I think that’s a good thing.” It’s almost like a perfect couple Don’t make the decisions.
“I know Corbin a little bit, I would definitely be over the moon if we had Corbin. I think that would of course be a great asset. One of the best, if not the best, pitchers in baseball. Adding a guy like that would be incredible.”
Rose then asked Webb if he had spoken to Burnes this offseason, to which the Giants ace heavily alluded that he had previously selected Burnes when signing with San Francisco.
“Maybe…” Webb said, smiling. “He knows how I feel and I know how he feels. Hopefully it happens, hopefully he becomes a San Francisco Giant. That would be great.”
Webb isn’t the only Giants player who has spoken to Burnes this offseason. New shortstop Willy Adames revealed to KNBR 680 Monday morning that he recently spoke with his former Milwaukee Brewers teammate and made him aware of a contract with the Giants.
NBC Sports Bay Area’s Alex Pavlovic reported last Thursday, citing sources, that the Giants were “in the middle” of the Burnes market, but it was unclear where they stood on Monday.
It’s clear that two of San Francisco’s star players would like to share the field with the four-time All-Star.
