Peter Laviolette blames the Rangers for a lack of toughness

Not only have the New York Rangers lost a lot of games, but they have shown a lack of urgency in doing so.

In the recent phase, in which the Rangers have lost nine of their last twelve games, the team has lacked heart and toughness.

They seemed depressed and demoralized that something had to change. Peter Laviolette urged all his players to play with more passion.

“It only comes from inside the room. I think the players know we have to play a better brand of hockey,” Laviolette said, via Mollie Walker of the New York Post. “We can’t just look at one person. Everyone has to be accountable for this.

“You get into this mess with everyone and you get out of it with everyone. I think that’s an important part of it. You need everyone on the ropes tonight.”

Opposing teams must be afraid of playing the Rangers and that’s simply not the case at the moment.

Last season, the Rangers had a physical identity and operated as a cohesive unit, which led them to winning the Presidents’ Trophy.

The problem this year is that the Rangers have completely lost the identity that made them so successful.

Hopefully Laviolette’s message will wake this team up or the Rangers will be in big trouble.
