Every NFL season, unlikely waiver wire heroes emerge to lead our fantasy football teams to glory. This year, that hero at the tight end position was an unlikely hero – Miami Dolphins tight end Jonnu Smith, who has finally made the breakthrough that football fans have been hoping for (and… who they knew was physically gifted enough for it). the Tennessee Titans.

As unlikely as Smith’s breakthrough at the age of 29 was, everything fell into place in the second half of the season. Since Week 7, Smith has been the overall TE1 in half-PPR scoring formats, averaging 13.8 fantasy points per contest. For the entire season, he ranks in the top five at the position in catches (70) and receiving yards (740) with six receiving touchdowns, further solidifying his place among fantasy managers.
